Christmas is over

It looks like Christmas is over for another year.  It was awesome as usual.  I had a good day.  I found a cache before eating.  I now have 1,043 caches now.

New Posting

I guess I'll start posting again.  I found a different way to post.  I will be using my Blackberry to post sometimes.  You'll be able to tell which ones I posted with my phone, it will say "Sent from my U.S. Cellular BlackBerry® smartphone".  I guess you could have figured that out by yourself though!  HA HA

I've started a new blog, My 2011 Project 365.   The Project 365 is a photography project
where you document a year of your life by taking a daily photo.  You know how I am at keeping up with this stuff, so we'll see how I do.  Since I can now post with my phone, I can use it for my Project 365.  I think it will be a neat way to see what goes on during the year.

The other blog I have is Running With Me!  Earlier this year, I started the C25K running program.  I plan on starting that again to.  If you want to find out when, just follow that blog.

Picture test

I'm testing out a picture post! This is a gorilla that was advertising something, but I never figured out what it was. Not very good advertisement!

Busy, Busy

I had a fun Labor Day weekend. I went to Memphis on Friday, and stayed until Monday morning. I got 17 caches, which included 2 webcam caches. Rode on The Dorena-Hickman Ferry across the Mississippi River, which was neat. Walked down Beale Street, where the webcam caches were. Saw the Peabody Ducks, at the Peabody Hotel. I had an awesome time visiting a friend, and caching. We also went to Mud Island.

Friday, we went to a high school football game, which was crazy. Germantown played Collierville. Lots of people in a little "stadium". Before the game, we found the oldest cache in Tennessee, LPS001. We ate at Huey's, really good burgers! You can shoot a toothpick in the ceiling after you finish your meal, I guess you can do it at any time if you wanted. I tried it, but couldn't get the thing to stick.

Saturday morning, we drove up to Kentucky. When I was planning this trip, I noticed how close Kentucky was to Memphis, so I talked her into going up here. We both needed a cache in Kentucky, so away we went. This is when we rode the ferry. We crossed into Missouri to get her a cache. She hadn't gotten one in MO yet. We got back to town and went to a birthday party for one of her nieces. After the party, I dropped her off, and went back to my hotel. Fun, but I was tired.

Sunday, I got up and went to church with her. Since Memphis was so close to Mississippi, I had to drop down and get a cache there. After church, we ate at Central BBQ. I don't usually eat ribs that much, but had them here. They were great! I didn't eat sauce on them. After lunch, we went by Graceland, just to the gate. I didn't think I would like going inside, I'm not really into Elvis, but I think I may want to go in now. Maybe next time. Now we was on our way to Beale Street. I wanted to go here so I could get two easy webcam caches. This place was really cool. On a Sunday afternoon, the place was hoppin'. Music everywhere! It was awesome. We walked to the monorail, and rode it over to Mud Island. That's a pretty cool place to. It has a scaled down version of the Mississippi River. I would like to go back to that to.

Monday, after eating breakfast at the Huddle House, we said our good byes, and I drove the long drive home.

It was a FUN weekend, and can't wait to go back!

New Camera

I recently bought a Canon Rebel XS. It's a Digital DSL, my first. I will eventually get a lens that I can zoom in better, but for now I'll be using the lens that came with the camera. If I take enough pictures, I'll make my own photo blog. Check back to see if I do!

2010 TATUR Mud Run

Saturday was going to be a long day for me. I woke up at 6:30, after going to bed at around 1am. My walking club, The Tulsa Walking Club, had a walk at Oxley Nature Center, starting at 7am. I was supposed to meet two friends that are members, and walk the 5K with them. Both of them texted me, they wasn't coming. Before you walk, you have a choice to walk a 5K or 10K. Since I was going to walk by myself, I decided to walk the 10K. It was a great walk. I love Oxley anyway. The place is so peaceful.
I started walking at 8am, finished between 9:30 and 9:45. I don't know exactly, because I set around talking to some other members for a while. I went to a close QuikTrip to get a drink.

At 10:30, I went on a Butterfly Walk, put on by a naturalist from Oxley. It lasted until around 12:30. We didn't walk to far, but we were out in the sun the whole time. When I got in my truck, the temp gauge showed 98 deg. Karla, Sarah, and I went to Panera Bread to eat lunch. I was starving! I had a donut to eat for breakfast. I ate some kind of turkey sandwich, or something like that. It was only my second time eating at Panera, both times were with Karla. Anyway, we were trying to figure out what to do the rest of the day. Karla went home. Sarah and I went phone and clothes shopping for her.

She was going to run in the TATUR Mud Run. I was going to watch! There was going to be other people from a meetup group I joined. Sarah and I got there, late, so she signed up for the 7:30 run. We had to wait around for two hours. Glen, Faith, Neecie, and Sue was already there. As I said before, I had planned on just watching. I didn't bring extra clothes. Well, I brought a shirt. I didn't bring extra shorts. Anyway, while Sarah and Glen was signing up, they were trying to talk me into signing up too. I said no, and we went back and sat down to watch the races until it was their turn.
We sat right by the big slide. They slid down the slide into a big mud pit. It looked so fun. Almost 45 minutes before their race, I did it. I told Sarah to go to my truck and get my shoes, and I went to sign up.

I am so glad I did. It was so fun. I don't think I have ever been that muddy. Now I had to think of a way to get home without getting my truck all muddy. I had a hand towel I sat on. It wasn't to bad. I stopped by Target, got some shorts and underwear, remember, I didn't bring any extra clothes. I changed at Sarah's. We went to eat, we were both starving, and I took her home and I came home and went right to bed! I was soooo tired.

This isn't about me...

I am determined to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. By participating in the 2010 Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk®, I’m committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support.

Currently more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's, and 78 million baby boomers are at risk – unless we find a way to change the course of this disease.

I want to do my part to fight Alzheimer’s, but I need your support! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer’s. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.

Thank you for supporting my efforts. We’re on the MOVE to end Alzheimer’s!

The Tulsa Memory Walk I will be participating in, is Aug 28th. If you can, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association. My grandmother died of Alzheimer's in 1993, so I know personally how bad this disease is. To donate, either click here, or click on the banner to the right. Thank you

Soapy Fountain

I was driving to a park, the park I do my C25K training at, and at another park, I seen this.
You never know what you will see when your driving down the road. Maybe a homeless perso wanted a bubble bath? I don't know, probably some kids. I remember one time when I was attending OSU Tech, someone had put some soap in on of the fountains in the student union. Speaking of putting stuff in the fountain, someone put a turtle in there one time. I'm sure there have been plenty of things in there at one time or another. Now OSU Tech is called "OSU Institute of Technology". When I started, it was OSU Tech, then it changed to OSU Okmulgee. Now I know, if anyone ever reads this, they wouldn't believe I went to an OSU school. Believe me, if there was an "OU Tech", I would have went there. I don't like OSU.

I know

I know, it's been a while since I've posted, again. I just have a hard time getting on here and writing.

To catch up, I've been caching, hiking, trying running, and taking pictures. I'm up to 917 cache finds.

I haven't been doing that much caching. When I do, I usually 3 or 4 at a time.

I went hiking with the Tulsa Outdoor Adventure Club at Redbud Valley in Tulsa. If you haven't been there, and live near Tulsa, it's a beautiful place to hike. Oxley Nature Center is also a cool place to hike at. I went on a birdwalk there Saturday morning, and afterwards, tooks some pictures.

Last weekend, the largest tugboat in North America was docked at the Port of Catoosa, so I had to visit it. The thing was huge! After leaving there, I went to visit a Route 66 icon. I went to the Blue Whale. I've been there many times, but never have taken pictures. There's even a cache there, but I found that at one of my previous visit's. Here's some pictures I took.

And, about the running. I have always admired people who can run, and I mean for a long distance. Even a 5K. I've always told myself that I was going to do it one of these days. Okay, now I'm getting old. I'm almost 40. I knew I needed to start doing something. Then I found this Couch to 5K running program. It seemed easy enough. Well, it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Read my Running with Me! blog I started.

Until next time...

Happy 4th of July...

...a day late. I had a fun 4th weekend.

Saturday, I woke up, and watched the World Cup games that were on. I loved watching Argentina get beat by Germany. I hope that Germany can win the championship. I didn't watch Spain and Paraguay. I went to my parents during that match. I did get two geocaches that I couldn't find before. They were Lunchtime Cache #18 and Closed for Business #2. I have looked for them both, about two or three times before. This time I finally found them.

I popped firworks at my parents. It rained almost all day. I popped them while it was sprinkling. It was fun! It's the first time I can remember, that I popped fireworks in the rain.

July 4th, my sister and I went to "Rockets Over Rhema". It was a lot of fun. I love going to outdoor concerts. The whole time I was there, I thought rain was going to move in and drown out everything. There was a line of storms moving in, but when they got close to Broken Arrow, they broke apart. It didn't rain at all. One of the groups that was there, was Point Of Grace. They were awesome.

After the concerts, the main attraction began. The fireworks. They had awesome firworks. They were the best I have seen. I plan on going back next year. Rockets Over Rhema isn't usually on July 4th. It's usually the Sunday before the holiday, but since it fell on Sunday this year, well, it was.

These pictures don't do it justice. These were taken with my Blackberry. I forgot my camera.

Red Shirt Fridays

The 'Red Shirt Friday' campaign has been in existence for some time across the nation, although many American's haven't heard about it.

To take part, all you have to do is wear red on Fridays. The color red symbolizes the blood of American soldiers who have sacrificed and are willing to sacrifice their lives for the cause.

The 'Red Shirt Friday' campaign will continue until all US troops return home for good.

Again

Well, the third times a charm. This is the third time I've tried to start a blog. Hopefully this time I'll keep up with it.
